Welcome to the Online Security Gates Terms and Conditions.

These terms and conditions apply to any products and services that you may purchase from us.

Please read all of these terms and conditions carefully before you order any products from our website because by ordering any of our products, you agree to be bound by them. If you accept these terms and conditions, please tick the box during the checkout process to show that you have read and agreed to them. Please understand that if you do not accept these terms and conditions, you will not be able to order any products from our website.

1. Our website

1.1. The Online Security Gates brand and onlinesecuritygates.co.uk website are wholly owned and operated by Preprotech Limited of, 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom, registered in the UK with company registration number 09874054.

2. Privacy

2.1. If you want to order any products from our website then you will need to provide us with certain details.

2.2. You will be asked to enter information such as your name, address, email address and telephone number. You are responsible for ensuring that all of the information you provide to us is true and accurate.

2.3. In providing our services and supplying our products, we may share your private information with outside parties, necessary in fulfilling your orders.

3. How is the contract formed between you and us?

3.1. The technical steps required to create a contract between you and us are as follows:

  • You will be guided through the ‘checkout’ process by a series of instructions. If you want to correct any errors you have made, you can do so by clicking the ‘back’ button.
  • You place the order on our website by finalising payment via the payment gateway presented at the end of the ‘checkout’ process.
  • We will send you an email to acknowledge that we have received your order. This is not an order confirmation or acceptance of your order because we will have to carry out stock and identity checks first.
  • Finally, we will then send you an email to confirm that your order has been dispatched to you (if you have chosen to have your products delivered to you and it is not a ‘direct delivery’ product). At this point, your order has been accepted by us and the contract is formed between you and us (unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order or you have cancelled it – please see Cancellations).

3.2. Because products may not all be stored by us at the same location, we may sometimes not be able to deliver them all for you at the same time so don’t worry if your delivery seems to be incomplete. You will still only be charged one delivery charge though. If you have any queries about your order or worry that it may be incomplete, then please contact Customer Services.

3.3. The contract will be concluded in English.

3.4. The details of your contract will be held by us. If you have a registered account with us and require any information about orders you have placed with us, you can log-in to your account here. Otherwise, please contact Customer Services.

4. Payment

4.1. Payment for goods and services may be made using major credit/debit cards or via direct bank transfer.

4.2. All payments for orders must be received in full during order placement.

5. Prices

5.1. The products prices on our website is in UK Pounds Sterling and include UK VAT.

5.2. The price of the products and our delivery charges will be as quoted on our website from time to time.

5.3. Products prices and delivery charges are liable to change at any time, but changes will not affect orders in respect of which we have already sent you a dispatch confirmation email.

5.4. Our website contains a large number of products and it is always possible that, despite our best efforts, some of the products listed on our website may be incorrectly priced. Where we recognise that we have charged the incorrect price, we will contact you to see what you want to do. If the pricing error is obvious and unmistakable and could have reasonably been recognised by you as a mispricing, we do not have to provide the goods to you at the incorrect lower price.

5.5. Payments will be taken immediately on order. Payment for all products must be made by one of the methods offered.

6. Discounts and offers

6.1. We may run special offers and/or discounts on our website from time to time at our discretion. For details of the terms and conditions of each special offer and discount, please see Promotions Terms and Conditions below. We reserve the right to terminate any special offer or discount at any time without notice (but this will not affect any orders that we have already accepted).

7. Promotions Terms and Conditions

7.1. All promotions are subject to availability and may be withdrawn or amended at any time. While stocks last. No substitutions can be made.

8. Product description

8.1. Each product is sold subject to its product description which can be found on the particular web page for the relevant product.

8.2. Please note the following with regards to all product descriptions on our website:

  • we reserve the right to alter specifications without prior notice. This will not affect any orders for which you have already received a dispatch confirmation.
  • all sizes and weights are given as a guide only and are approximate.

9. Defective products

9.1. In the rare event of you encountering a fault with any item purchased from us please email a description of the fault along with images (when possible) to info@onlinesecuritygates.co.uk, where we will replace parts or the item directly with the customer. This is the most direct, quickest and most convenient way for the consumer to get a speedy resolution in most cases.

9.2. All discrepancies must be notified in writing to: info@onlinesecuritygates.co.uk within 5 days of delivery otherwise we cannot accept liability. The customer shall be deemed to have examined and accepted the goods in good condition and free from any defects and supplied in accordance with all the specifications of the order.

9.3. Where you are returning the products because they are defective, we will refund to you the reasonable costs of the return. In all other cases, you must return the products at your own cost.

9.4. Where possible, we ask that you please return the products in their original packaging. Where this is not possible, please ensure that the products are packaged securely to help ensure that they reach us safely and in a good condition. Please note that if you are cancelling your order because you have changed your mind and you received your products more than 14 days ago, then there are stricter measures that you have to comply with when returning your product or you may not get your refund or replacement (please see I’ve changed my mind and want to cancel above).

9.5. If you think that any of the products you have received are defective, then in the first instance please contact us at info@onlinesecuritygates.co.uk who will do our best to assist you.

9.6. You are entitled to either:

  • claim on the manufacturer’s guarantee (see Manufacturer’s guarantee below); or
  • exercise your legal rights (please see Your legal rights below).

9.7. Our liability for consequential loss shall not exceed the invoice value of the defective goods.

9.8. Subject as expressly provided in these conditions, and except where the goods are sold to a person dealing as a consumer, (within the meaning of the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977), all warranties, conditions or other terms implied by statute or common law are excluded to the fullest permitted by law.

10. Shortages and Damages

10.1. Any shortages in delivery or delivery of incorrect items must be notified by email to info@onlinesecuritygates.co.uk within three days of receipt of goods and must include with full details.

10.2. Notification of non-delivery must be made within five days of the dispatch confirmation email.

10.3. Customers are required to check goods on arrival for any faults or defects and notification of any faults or defects need to be confirmed in within five days of receipt of goods.

10.4. Any damage to goods in transit must be advised in writing within 24 hours of goods arriving to ensure we can notify the transportation company within their time frame.

11. Manufacturer’s guarantee

11.1. Our products come with a manufacturer’s guarantee. Where it does, we will pass on the benefit of that guarantee to you. If you want to claim on such guarantee, you will have to contact the manufacturer and follow the instructions or terms contained in the same.

12. Your legal rights

12.1. The guarantees provided above are in addition to your legal rights in relation to products that are faulty or not as described. Advice about your legal rights is available from your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Trading Standards office.

12.2. If you think the products are defective, you must return them to us (please see Defective Products above). If they are defective, then you are entitled to a repair, replacement or a refund.

12.3. Either before or at the time you return the products to us, you will need to tell us whether you would like a repair, replacement or a refund. Where you have not told us what your preference is, we are not obligated to contact you to find out. Please note that where you have used the products, we may reduce any refund we give to you to take into account the use you have had of the products since they were delivered to you. Whether you receive a repair, replacement or a refund, we will also refund any reasonable costs you may have incurred in returning the products to us. Where you have not told us what costs you have incurred, we will make a reasonable estimation. If you are not happy with any such estimation, then please contact our Customer Services.

12.4. We will process any refund due to you as soon as possible and, in any case, within 14 days of the day that you returned the products to us. We will usually refund any money received from you using the same method originally used by you to pay for your purchase.

13. Risk and Property

13.1. The risk of damage or loss of the goods shall pass to the customer at the time of delivery, or if the customer wrongfully fails to take the delivery of the goods or fails to provide adequate means of access for the delivery of the goods at the time when the company has tendered delivery of the goods or attempted to deliver the same.

13.2. Notwithstanding delivery and the passing of risk in the goods, or any other provision in these conditions, the property in the goods shall not pass to the customer until the Company has received in cash or cleared funds payment in full of the price of the goods and all other sums due from the customer to the company.

13.3. The customer shall not be entitled to pledge or any way charge by way of security, for any indebtedness of any of the goods which remain the property of the Company, but if the customer does so all monies owing by the customer to the Company shall (without prejudice to any other right or remedy of the Company) forthwith become due and payable.

14. Force Majeure

14.1. The company shall not be held liable to the buyer for any loss resulting from failure to deliver the goods, or for any delay in delivering the goods, where such failure is wholly or mainly due to any cause outside the Company’s reasonable control, including but not limited to shortages of material, strikes and lockouts, riots and civil commotion, severe weather conditions or acts of God.

15. Our liability

15.1. If we fail to comply with these terms and conditions, we shall only be liable to you for the purchase price of the products and other losses that you suffer as a result of our failure to comply which are a foreseeable consequence of such failure.

15.2. Nothing in these terms and conditions excludes or limits our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • any breach of the obligations implied by section 12 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979;
  • defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987; or
  • any other matter for which it would be illegal for us to exclude or attempt to exclude our liability.

16. General

16.1. Neither we nor you will be responsible if we are unable to perform our obligations under the contract due to events which are genuinely beyond your or our reasonable control (as applicable).

16.2. Nothing under the contract shall give rights to any person who is not a party to it whether under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 or otherwise.

16.3. We revise our terms and conditions from time to time. You will be subject to the terms and conditions in force at the time that you order products from us.

16.4. All aspects of the contract formed in respect of your use of our site shall be governed by English law and the parties agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts as far as possible. In some circumstances the laws where you are domiciled may apply and the courts where you are domiciled may have jurisdiction.

16A. Engineer Callouts and Site Visits

16A.1. We aim to respond to customer service issues in a timely manner and typically attend site visits within five (5) working days during busy periods. Emergency or next-day callouts are not guaranteed.

16A.2. Site visits will be scheduled based on issue severity, location, and engineer availability. Customers will be updated accordingly.

16A.3. If an engineer callout is found to relate to user error, misuse, power issues, or interference from unauthorised persons, a callout fee may be charged at our discretion.

16A.4. Customers are required to ensure access to the property and an active power supply prior to any scheduled visit. Where appropriate, we may request customers attempt basic troubleshooting before confirming attendance.

19. Gate Warranty

All aluminium gates supplied by OnlineSecurityGates are covered by a workmanship warranty from date of receipt of goods. If a problem arises that is due to insufficienworkmanship that causes the gate to fail to perform its designed purpose OnlineSecurityGates will rectify the fault. The warranty type is 'Return to Base', meaning the customer will return the gate(s) to OnlineSecurityGates. The customer is required to cover the expense othreturn. OnlineSecurityGates will cover the expense to return the repaired / replacemengate(s) to the customer once work is completed. Work will be carried out as promptly apossible and we wilendeavour to return the gate(s) to the customer within 14 working days of it arriving.

The warranty period is 5 Years for all Aluminium gates supplied by OnlineSecurityGates. This covers both the structural integrity of the gates as well as the powder coated finish.

The underground motor also known as concealed motor kit warranty is up to 3 years if an adequate 6 monthly maintenance record is provided.

The above ground motor kit warranty is up to 3 years if an adequate 6 monthly maintenance record is provided.

What is not covered;

  • Problems caused by accidental or deliberate damage or abuse to the gate(s).
  • Problems caused by 'ill Fitting' of the gate(s), posts, ironwork, or nearby objects.

20. Automation Products Warranty

Online Security Gates warrants residential double swing gate automation products to be free of any defect for a period of two years from the date of shipment for above ground motors and 3 years for below ground motors subject to regular servicing at 6 month intervals.  For residential sliding gates motors are warranted for 12 months.  In the event of such a defect during the warranty period, Online Security Gates agrees to replace the defective product.  All replacement products will be purchased at full value and a credit issued against any products returned within warranty.  If motor control board or any equipment we have installed is tampered with by others during the warranty period causing a system malfunction, the warranty will be void.

19. Commercial Cantilever Sliding Gates

19.1. Product Specifications and Variations
Commercial cantilever sliding gates are tailored to meet specific site and operational requirements. While we aim for accuracy in product descriptions and images, actual products may vary slightly due to improvements in design or changes in component availability. Such variations do not constitute defects.

19.2. Made-to-Order Policy
These gates are custom-made to order based on customer specifications. Once an order is confirmed, it cannot be cancelled or altered. Returns will not be accepted unless the product is proven to be defective or not as described.

19.3. Delivery and Lead Times
Estimated lead times will be provided upon order confirmation, but they are indicative and not guaranteed. Delays may occur due to manufacturing schedules or external supply chain disruptions. We will notify customers of any significant changes to estimated delivery.

19.4. Inspection and Acceptance
All goods must be inspected upon delivery. Any issues, including missing or damaged items, must be reported to us in writing within 48 hours of receipt. Failure to do so will be deemed as acceptance of the goods in satisfactory condition.

19.5. Warranty and Liability
Our commercial cantilever sliding gates include the following warranties from the date of delivery:

  • 10-year warranty on structural steelwork and powder-coated finish, covering material defects and corrosion under normal use.

  • 2-year warranty on motors, covering faults in materials or workmanship under normal operating conditions.

These warranties do not cover:

  • Improper installation, impact damage, misuse, or tampering.

  • Wear and tear, weathering, or exposure to corrosive environments.

  • Third-party components not supplied by us (unless covered by a separate manufacturer warranty).

All claims must be submitted in writing, accompanied by proof of purchase and relevant evidence. Our liability is limited strictly to the repair or replacement of defective components. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

19.6. Installation and Use
All commercial gates must be installed by competent professionals in accordance with applicable regulations and industry best practice. We accept no liability for faults or damage resulting from incorrect installation or use. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure the suitability of the product for its intended environment and application.

19.7. Force Majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in fulfilling our obligations caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to extreme weather, strikes, equipment shortages, transport disruption, or any act of God.

19.8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
